Visiting the Wildwood Boardwalk

Updated: Sep 27, 2021

Almost every year we try to take a family road trip to the southern tip of New Jersey, as my husband has family in that area. When there, one place we always try to go, in true tourist fashion, is the Wildwood Boardwalk.

This is a very seasonal destination. The majority of shops and attractions are only open in the summer- Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend.

You may get lucky, once in a blue moon, and find a free parking spot on one of the residential streets. But the safest bet would be to fork-up for a parking lot. The cost isn't too bad if you go early enough in the evening or during the week. You'll pay more on the weekends.

The Boardwalk itself is about 2.5 miles long. If you want a little tour of the whole thing before venturing on foot, they have a little tram that chugs along the planks. Just follow the bell to one of its stops.

The Wildwood Boardwalk definitely has something for everyone. There's obviously the beach.

But there are also shops, food establishments, arcades, water parks and even amusement parks right on the Boardwalk!

We visited just last month and my son's favorite thing were the amusement parks. Especially because he was finally able to go on one of the large coasters that had a couple loops.

One of my favorite stops is Douglass Fudge. This shop has the best fudge I've ever tasted! And there are so many flavors to choose from. There's one location right on the Boardwalk and another one a couple blocks in.

So if you ever find yourself in the area in the summertime, I highly recommend visiting! There's so much to see and do no matter what time of day or night you go. Lots of fun to be had and memories to be made!
