And why it should be your next stop in Lake County

If you live in Lake County, Illinois or happen to be passing through, this is a must see destination. Nestled right off of highway 94, at exit 16, this little escape is a breath of fresh air.

Admission is very cheap and reasonable. And sort of a la carte. The day we went, admission was free for active duty, vets, and spouses. It was fourth of July weekend, so I'm not sure if that was a factor or not. And the babies under two are always free.. Regardless, I would not have mind paying full price.

Again, the cost was very reasonable. So with that, I allowed my oldest to splurge and get extra tickets to some of the attractions. You pay for which attractions you wanted to do. Mini-golf was already included with admission. You just have to pay extra for animal feed, train ride tickets, and the merry-go-round.

Now before I speak further as to our fun on the farm. I wanted to touch on why this farm is so special. It's a must visit destination because of the amazing charitable work they do. They employ and house people with various special needs and disabilities. All the employees we came across had huge smiles on their faces and were very welcoming. There was a lot of calm, positive energy every where we turned. It just made our family outing that much more enjoyable.

Just like any other farm, they had various animals you could feed and pet. All seemed very well kept. My oldest son's favorite was a black goat that was very comical. He kept sticking his head infront of the next new animal we were trying to give hay to and eat it himself at the last minute.

The small merry-go-round was nice, but you can tell it's been around for a while and could use some TLC.

The train ride was also nice and relaxing. But it could also use a touch-up and maybe some WD-40. But you pay for what you get. And I'm very happy to know a lot of the profit made from the farm is used to help people with disabilities find housing, education and employment.

Just across the way from the farmtraction area are restrooms, a visitor's center, garden center, and the Magnolia Bakery.

We popped into the bakery for refreshments and snacks. My son helped himself to a delicious and moist brownie that was topped with M&M's.

Upon leaving, he turned to me and said this was the best day ever. So need I say more? This place is definitely on our list to visit again! We thoroughly loved spending time at this wonderful place and among its awesome people.

I hope if you find yourself in the area, you stop by here. Check this place out, meet the nice employees, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
