10 Funny Things We Say As Parents

1. No!

This is the most overused word in our vocabulary. Before I became a mom, I didn’t realize I would be using this word infinite times a day. Sometimes it feels like it's the only word I know.

2. Don’t bite me.

There’s the teething stage because of course it’s painful for them and gnawing helps. But then there’s the stage where they do it to test you. And once the teeth are in, oh man does it hurt!

3. Let me smell your butt.

We say the funniest things sometimes. And then we realize we are in public and have to laugh because what else is there to do? You have to check the diaper!

4. Let me check your mouth.

For my oldest, it was to make sure he actually swallowed his food. And for my second, it was to make sure there wasn't something in his mouth that shouldn't be there. He is so quick to put anything and everything in his mouth. Fun times.

5. You can’t live off Goldfish alone!

Generally, my kids eat well. But some days are a struggle and all they want to do is eat Goldfish and drink milk.

6. Don’t jump on the couch!

Why does every kid think the couch and bed are trampolines?

7. Get off there!

You turn your back for one second and they have scaled the entertainment center and given you a mini heart attack. But then it takes them 10 minutes to climb the stairs to go to bed.

8. Don’t squish it!

*Squishes bug in fingers*

If you’re a boy mom, this has a double meaning- ha-ha! Toddler boys reach a stage where they explore their bodies in the tub and sometimes, unfortunately in public.

9. Why does this smell like pee?

When did everything start smelling like pee? I thought odors would get a bit better once the diapers went away. But I swear I’m always smelling pee, even on my 5 year old, after doing the laundry and just having washed sheets.

10. I’m not your tissue!

Why do our little ones insist on wiping their noses on us? I love my snot-nosed kids, but why do I have to always have some sort of body fluid on me?

Oh the joys of parenthood! I'd love to hear from you. Drop some of your favorite quotes in the comments below!
